할렐루야! 평강의 하나님께서 여러분과 함께하시기를 기도드립니다.
저는 이곳 탈북민 공동체 센터에서 생활하며 북한 선교회를 위해 기도하는 시간을 보내고 있습니다. 개인적으로 이 생활 속에서 큰 기쁨을 누리고 있습니다. 몸은 조금 아프기도 했지만, 마음은 오히려 농사일을 통해 회복되고 치유되는 은혜를 경험하고 있습니다. 오늘 보시는 것처럼, 저희는 감자를 수확하고 있습니다.
6월의 장마가 서서히 지나가고, 7월의 문턱에서 감자를 캐며 예상보다 풍성한 결실을 얻게 되었습니다. 북한에서는 탈북민들이 주로 옥수수와 감자를 주식으로 삼습니다. 그런 탈북민들이 가족들과 함께 모여 나눈다는 상상을 해보면, 이 수확의 기쁨은 단순한 열매 이상의 깊은 감동으로 다가옵니다.
무엇보다도 저희는 북한 복음 통일을 위해 지금까지 해왔던 것처럼, 계속해서 기도하며 하나님의 인도하심을 따르려 합니다. 하나님께서 가라 하시면 순종하여 나아가고, 사람이 도구로 쓰임받을 뿐이며, 우리의 계획이 하나님의 뜻에 합한 것이 되도록 끊임없이 준비하고 있습니다.
지금 우리 동남아 센터에서는 탈북민들이 열심히 성경을 공부하고 있습니다. 특히 탈북민 출신 전도사님께서 곧 동남아선테에 방문하여, 새로 구출된 탈북민 들에게 하나님의 복음을 전하고, 탈북민들에게 왜 우리가 예수 그리스도를 믿어야 하는지를 전하시게 됩니다. 그 여정 가운데 하나님의 크신 은혜와 인도하심이 함께하시기를 기도합니다.
그러나 이 모든 사역을 감당하기에는, 사실 갈렙선교회는 아직 많이 연약한 상태입니다. 첫째로, 함께할 동역자들이 필요하고, 둘째로는 아마도 가장 큰 필요일 수 있는 재정적 어려움이 있습니다.
탈북민 구출 사역은 특히 큰 재정이 필요한데, 코로나 이후 구출 비용이 열 배 이상 상승했습니다. 또한 복음 전파의 전진기지인 동남아 센터의 유지비도 막대한 상황입니다. 감사하게도 한국 내 탈북민 공동체 센터와 탈북민 교육 사역 등은 이제 갈렙선교회 안에서 자리를 잡아가고 있습니다. 그러나 여전히 전체 예산의 60~70%를 탈북민 구출에 사용해야 하기에, 지속적인 기도와 재정의 동역이 절실합니다.
갈렙선교회는 심은 대로 반드시 열매를 맺는다는 믿음으로 이 길을 걸어가고 있습니다. 오늘 저희가 감자를 수확한 것처럼, 여러분이 흘리신 눈물의 기도와 헌신이 복음 통일의 열매로 나타나게 될 것입니다. 탈북민들이 복음을 받고 구원받는 그날까지, 그들이 북한 복음화의 마중물이 될 수 있도록 함께 기도해 주세요.
여러분의 기도와 동역이 하나님 나라의 열매로 이어지기를 간절히 소망합니다.

2. 하나님, 아직도 중국에서 구출을 기다리는 탈북민들이 있습니다. 우리의 열심이 아닌, 하나님의 뜻에 따라 영혼 구원의 사역에 선교회가 쓰임받게 하소서.
3. 하나님, 현지에서 사역 중인 전도사님, 선교사님, 사역자들과 구출된 탈북민들, 그리고 곧 출발할 이들에게 은혜를 베푸시고, 심고 거두며 양육하는 사역 가운데 하나님의 권세가 함께하는 선교회 되게 하소서.

Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace will be with you.
I’m currently living at the North Korean Escapees’ Community Center, where I spend time in prayer for North Korea and the mission to share the gospel there. This season has been a great personal blessing. Although I’ve had some physical difficulties, I’ve found healing and restoration through working in the fields. As you can see, we are harvesting potatoes today.
As the rainy season of June slowly passes and we step into July, we’ve begun harvesting our potatoes, with a yield that exceeded our expectations. In North Korea, corn and potatoes are staple foods. Imagining North Korean escapees sitting around the table with their families, sharing meals made from these crops, fills this harvest with even deeper joy and meaning.
Above all, we continue to pray and prepare for the gospel unification of North Korea, just as we have always done. When God says “Go,” we go. We know that we are only vessels for His work, and we pray that our plans would be aligned with His will.
At our Southeast Asia center, North Korean escapees are studying the Bible diligently. One of our missionaries—himself a North Korean escapee—will soon visit the center to minister to newly rescued escapees. He will share the gospel and explain why faith in Jesus Christ is essential. We pray that God’s grace and guidance will be with him and with all who serve in this work.
However, the truth is that Caleb Mission remains in a very fragile state. First, we are in need of more ministry partners. Second—and perhaps most urgently—we are in need of financial support.
The rescue mission, in particular, requires significant funds. Since the pandemic, the cost of rescuing a single defector has increased more than tenfold. In addition, the cost of maintaining the Southeast Asia center, which serves as a frontline hub for gospel outreach, is substantial. Thankfully, the North Korean Community Center and education programs within South Korea are gradually becoming more stable within Caleb Mission. But still, 60–70% of our entire budget is being used to rescue North Korean escapees. For this reason, your ongoing prayers and financial partnership are vital.
At Caleb Mission, we believe that what is sown will surely bear fruit. Just as we harvested potatoes today, we trust that your tears, prayers, and faithful sowing will result in the fruit of gospel unification. As defectors come to know Christ and receive salvation, they will become the forerunners of revival and gospel restoration in North Korea.
Please continue to pray with us—that the seeds sown in tears will bear eternal fruit for the Kingdom of God.

1. Heavenly Father, have mercy on this nation. Fix our eyes on Your will, and let us dream only of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
2. God, there are still North Korean escapees in China waiting to be rescued. May our mission not be driven by human zeal, but by Your will for the salvation of souls. Use this ministry according to Your purpose
3. God, pour out Your grace upon the pastors, missionaries, ministry workers on the ground, the rescued escapees, and those preparing to escape. May Your authority be with this mission as we plant, reap, teach, and disciple in Your name.

할렐루야! 평강의 하나님께서 여러분과 함께하시기를 기도드립니다.
오늘은 7월 4일, 미국의 독립기념일(Independence Day)입니다. 미국이 자유를 축하하는 이 날, 우리는 여전히 자유를 갈망하며 고통받는 수많은 이들을 기억하게 됩니다. 특히, 북한 땅의 억압 속에 있는 이들과, 자유를 찾아 목숨을 걸고 탈출하는 이들을 떠올립니다.
자유는 결코 값없이 주어지지 않았습니다. 누군가의 희생이 있었기에 가능한 것이며, 지금도 우리는 복음과 자유를 전하기 위해 그 사명을 감당하고 있습니다.
하나님의 은혜 가운데 어느덧 본격적인 여름이 시작되었습니다. 오늘은 장마철 끝자락에 비가 내리고 있습니다. 이 단비로 말미암아 많은 생명이 소생하듯, 우리 탈북민 사역에도 소생의 역사가 일어나기를 간절히 소망합니다. 말씀의 담비처럼, 자연의 단비처럼, 하나님의 살아계신 역사가 갈렙선교회를 통해 더욱 풍성히 나타나길 기도합니다.
6월은 호국보훈의 달로, 민족의 아픔인 6·25 전쟁을 기억하는 시간이었습니다. 그 시절 나라를 위해 헌신하신 분들의 희생 위에 지금의 자유가 세워졌음을 기억합니다.
이제 7월의 문턱에 들어서며, 앞으로의 사역을 위해 여러분의 기도와 동역을 간곡히 부탁드립니다. 최근 갈렙선교회는 4명의 탈북민을 구출하여 누적 구출 인원이 1,048명이 되었습니다. 그러나 현재 재정은 거의 바닥난 상황입니다. 주님의 은혜와 여러분의 기도로 다시금 기름부음이 임하여, 더 많은 생명들을 구출할 수 있기를 소망합니다.
또한, 저는 한 달 반 뒤 미국으로 초청을 받아 집회 일정을 앞두고 있습니다. 미국의 형제자매들과 함께 그리스도 안에서 기도하며, 탈북민 구출 사역을 위한 협력을 이어갈 예정입니다. 아직 구입이 완료되지 못한 차량 문제를 비롯해, 모든 일정 가운데 하나님의 뜻이 온전히 이루어지도록 함께 기도해 주시기를 부탁드립니다.
장마철의 비가 오히려 저에게는 큰 위로와 힘이 됩니다. 여러분도 이 비를 통해 새 힘을 얻으시길 바랍니다. 여러분과 여러분의 가정 위에 하나님의 크신 은혜와 충만한 평강이 가득하길 기도합니다. 감사합니다.

Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace will be with you.
You are receiving this letter on July 4th—Independence Day in the United States. As Americans celebrate the gift of freedom today, we are reminded of the countless others around the world who are still longing for liberty. In particular, we remember the people of North Korea who remain oppressed and those who are risking everything to escape and find true freedom.
Just as freedom is never free—having been purchased by sacrifice—we continue to press on in this mission to rescue and restore those still in darkness, believing that God will continue to use us as His hands and feet.
By God’s grace, summer is now in full swing. Today, as the monsoon season nears its end, rain is falling once again. Just as this rain brings new life to the earth, I earnestly pray that our ministry to North Korean escapees will also experience a revival. May the living water of God’s Word—like this rain—refresh and restore every part of the ministry that He is accomplishing through Caleb Mission.
June was a month of remembrance and honor for those who sacrificed during the Korean War. As we reflect on the tragedy of the 6.25 War, we also remember those who laid down their lives for this nation. It is upon their sacrifice that today’s freedom has been built.
Now, as we step into July, I humbly ask for your continued prayers and partnership. A few weeks ago, Caleb Mission successfully rescued four more North Korean escapees, bringing the total to 1,048. However, our financial resources have nearly run dry. We ask for your prayers that God would anoint this work afresh and provide the resources needed to rescue many more souls in the days ahead.
In addition, I have been invited to speak in the United States and will be traveling there in about a month and a half. Even though they are Americans, the brothers and sisters in Christ there are praying with us and working alongside us to support the rescue of North Korean escapees. Please pray that the remaining needs—such as the provision of a vehicle—will be met, and that every part of the schedule would align with God's perfect will.
Though it may be rainy and overcast outside, this rain gives me strength and hope. I pray that you, too, would be encouraged and strengthened by God’s grace. May His abundant peace and blessings overflow in your homes and in every area of your life.

1. Heavenly Father, please pour out Your mercy and grace like refreshing rain upon the North Korean escapees who are suffering in hiding in China, and open a way for their safe rescue.
2. God bless our ministry partners and supporters who faithfully serve through prayer and giving. May their lives be filled with Your peace, provision, and eternal reward.
3. God, please grant saving grace to the North Korean escapees who were recently rescued and are now studying the Bible at our Southeast Asia Center. May they come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
4. God, open doors for every financial need to be met—for the purchase of a vehicle for the U.S. tour, for the gospel ministry at the Southeast Asia Center, and for the continued rescue efforts.

할렐루야! 평강의 하나님께서 여러분과 늘 함께하시기를 기도합니다. 여러분의 기도 가운데 탈북민들이 무사히 국경을 넘었고, 현재 동남아 사역 센터에 도착하기만을 기다리고 있습니다. 여러분의 기도와 후원이 바로 생명을 살리고 복음을 전하는 데 귀하게 쓰임 받고 있습니다. 여러분의 헌신이 마중물이 되어 북한 전역에 복음의 밀알이 되고, 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 천하보다 귀한 생명을 살리는 일에 사용되고 있음을 진심으로 감사드립니다.
또한 감사드릴 소식이 있습니다. 미국 사역에 필요한 차량을 위해 약 3천만 원의 재정이 필요한 상황이었는데, 한 분께서 1천만 원을 후원해 주셨습니다. 그 헌신으로 인해 저희가 이 일에 다시 한번 믿음으로 나아갈 수 있었고, 하나님의 마중물로 쓰임 받게 되었습니다. 남은 재정도 하나님께서 채워주셔서, 미국 사역이 더 넓은 지경으로 확장되고, 더 많은 탈북민들의 생명을 살리는 데 쓰임 받을 줄 믿습니다.
개인적으로도 감사한 소식이 있습니다. 최근 목의 통증으로 많은 어려움이 있었지만, 많은 분들의 기도와 헌신 덕분에 치료를 잘 받고 있고, 빠르게 회복 중에 있습니다. 이제 다시 미국 사역을 준비하고 있습니다.
그동안 한국에 남은 탈북민 공동체도 아름답게 잘 이어지고 있습니다. 동남아에서 훈련받은 탈북민들이 북한 선교의 리더로 세워질 수 있도록 계속해서 기도해 주시길 바랍니다. 그리고 무엇보다도, 중국에 있는 우리 탈북민 자매들의 구출을 위해 끊임없는 중보기도를 부탁드립니다.
또한 감옥사역을 위해서도 기도해 주십시오. 일부 탈북민들이 한국에 정착하면서 법을 잘 몰라 실수하거나, 때로는 알고도 죄를 지어 한국의 감옥에 갇히게 되는 경우가 있습니다. 북한의 큰 감옥에서 벗어났지만 또 다른 작은 감옥에 갇혀, 하나님 없이 인생을 보내는 이들에게 저희는 예수 그리스도의 사랑으로 복음을 전하고 있습니다. 감옥사역을 통해 하나님의 놀라운 사랑이 그들에게 전해지기를 소망합니다. 그들이 비록 북한에서 어렵게 출발했지만, 감옥에서도 요셉과 같은 하나님의 사람이 되어 하나님을 만나는 은혜가 있기를, 그리고 그들을 위해 우리가 기도하고 사랑을 나누는 시간이 되기를 간절히 바랍니다.
탈북민 공동체에 심은 산삼들이 무럭무럭 자라고 있습니다. 오늘 손님이 방문하셔서 처음 캐본 결과, 약 500뿌리 심었던 것이 7년 만에 정말 잘 자랐습니다. 이처럼 여러분과 함께하는 탈북민 공동체가 하나님 나라를 이루고, 여러분의 건강도 책임지는 좋은 열매가 되기를 소망합니다. 언제든 방문해 주시길 환영합니다. 이 산삼이 몸에 좋은 것처럼, 우리가 하나님의 사랑을 담아 함께 세워가는 이 사역도 하나님의 기쁨이 되는 나라, 건강한 공동체가 이 땅 위에 세워지기를 간절히 바랍니다. 곧 있을 헌당예배에서 여러분과 함께 예배드릴 날을 고대하며, 이 메시지를 전합니다. 감사합니다.

Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace will be with you.
By God’s grace and through your faithful prayers and support, the work of rescuing North Korean escapees and raising them as leaders in the gospel continues through Caleb Mission.
At our community center, it is already the season of harvest. Today’s zucchini harvest was truly abundant—so much so that we wonder how we will handle the overflow! But as we labor in the field, we are reminded again of the truth of God’s Word: “You will reap what you sow.”
As we participate in this life-giving gospel ministry, we are reminded just how precious it is to save a life and raise future leaders for North Korea’s mission field. I pray that your partnership in offering souls to the Kingdom of God will bring joy to His heart and become a heavenly inheritance for you as well.
Even now, North Korean women in China continue to cry out for rescue. Their pleas are desperate and unceasing. This is not an easy mission—it is often a spiritual battle—but the Lord has clearly commanded us to continue for the sake of the gospel. And so, we pray and go when God says “go,” and stay when He says “stay,” walking in obedience each step of the way.
Please continue to pray for the leaders of Caleb Mission and the North Korean escapee missionaries who are being trained and equipped for ministry. We are currently preparing for visits from people who want to see the community firsthand and spend time in fellowship. As we witness many both in Korea and around the world being stirred to pray and engage with this work, I’m convinced that these 27 years of ministry have not been in vain—they were part of God’s plan to plant seeds for His Kingdom.
As I shared last week, we have now offered up 1,048 lives to God. Please continue to pray that these precious souls will not return to the ways of the world, but walk in victory in Christ until the end.
And as more North Korean escapee sisters prepare to escape, I humbly ask you to join us again—like the churches of Macedonia who joyfully gave—by supporting this rescue and gospel mission through your generous and prayerful giving. Thank you so much.

1. Heavenly Father, anoint the homes, workplaces, and ministries of all who partner through prayer and giving to share the true freedom of Jesus Christ with North Korean escapees. May we walk together for the sake of Your Kingdom.
2. Lord, please provide the necessary funds to rescue the North Korean women who are crying out for help and waiting in China.
3. Lord, pour out Your Spirit upon the North Korean escapees studying the Bible at the Southeast Asia mission center. Strengthen and protect the missionaries and their families who care for them, so they may faithfully carry out their calling and lead many into Your Kingdom.
4. Lord, may the North Korean escapees' community center become a foundation and seed for North Korea missions. Let us witness the miraculous harvest You promised—that through this work, the Korean peninsula may be lifted up into Your hands and Your Kingdom declared.

2025년 6월 셋째주 소식
갈렙선교회는 회원 여러분의 기도와 후원 덕분에, 탈북민 구출 사역과 이들을 복음의 리더로 세우는 일이 하나님의 은혜 가운데 잘 진행되고 있습니다. 그리고 지금, 저희 탈북민 공동체 센터에서는 벌써 수확의 계절을 맞이하고 있습니다. 오늘 수확한 호박만 해도 정말 풍성합니다. 얼마나 많은지 저희 힘으로 다 감당할 수 있을까 걱정이 될 정도입니다. 하지만 이 농사를 지으며 흘린 땀과 수고만큼이나, 하나님께서 말씀하신 대로 ‘심은 대로 거둔다’는 진리를 다시금 체험하며 감사함을 느낍니다.
저희는 생명을 살리는 이 사역과 복음을 전하는 사명을 감당하며, 한 사람 한 사람이 북한 선교의 리더로 세워지는 일이 얼마나 소중한지를 매일 깨닫습니다. 하나님 나라를 위해 한 영혼을 드리는 이 귀한 사역에 여러분이 동참해주시고 기도로 함께해 주셔서, 하나님을 기쁘시게 하고 하늘의 유업을 함께 누리시기를 소망합니다.
현재도 중국에서는 계속해서 탈북민 자매들이 구조를 요청하고 있습니다. 그들의 절박한 울부짖음과 도움을 구하는 외침은 결코 멈추지 않습니다. 이 일은 때로는 매우 고되고 어려운 길이지만, 주님께서 복음을 위하여 멈추지 말고 계속하라고 명령하신 것을 기억하며 기도합니다. 우리는 하나님이 “가라” 하시면 가고, “서라” 하시면 서는 순종의 삶을 계속해서 걸어가길 원합니다.
여러분, 갈렙선교회 리더들의 사역과 이곳에서 훈련받고 있는 탈북민들을 위해 함께 기도해 주시길 부탁드립니다. 갈렙선교회 사역에 관심 있는 분들이 탈북민 공동체를 직접 방문해 교제하고자 준비 중입니다. 국내외에서 갈렙선교회와 북한 사역에 깊은 관심을 갖고 기도하는 분들이 세워지는 모습을 보며, 지난 27년간의 사역이 하나님 나라를 위한 씨앗이 되었음을 믿습니다.
그 결과로, 지난주에 말씀드린 것처럼 지금까지 총 1,048명의 영혼을 하나님께 올려드릴 수 있었습니다. 이 귀한 영혼들이 세상의 길이 아니라 예수님 안에서 끝까지 승리할 수 있도록 함께 기도해 주세요.
그리고 앞으로 탈출을 준비하고 있는 자매들을 위해, 바울을 도운 마게도니아 교회들처럼 여러분의 기쁨의 연보로 구출과 복음 사역에 동참해 주시기를 간절히 부탁드립니다. 감사합니다.

Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace is always with you. Through your faithful prayers, several North Korean escapees have safely crossed the border and are now waiting to arrive at our Southeast Asia mission center. Your prayers and support are being used preciously to save lives and spread the gospel. Your dedication is laying the foundation for the gospel to reach all of North Korea, and we sincerely thank you for being used by God to save lives—lives more precious than the whole world.
We also have another testimony of thanksgiving to share. We were praying for a vehicle needed for ministry in the U.S., and we estimated it would require about 30 million KRW (approx. $22,000 USD). Amazingly, one supporter generously donated 10 million KRW (approx. $7,000 USD). Because of this faithful offering, we are once again able to move forward in faith and see how God is providing what we need. We trust that He will supply the remaining amount as well, and through that provision, the U.S. ministry will expand its reach and be used to rescue even more North Korean lives.
On a personal note, I also want to thank you. I recently suffered from severe neck pain that required treatment, but thanks to your prayers and support, I’ve received proper care and am recovering well. I am now preparing to return to the U.S. ministry work.
Meanwhile, the North Korean escapees’ community center in South Korea is thriving by God’s grace. Please continue to pray for those who are being discipled in God’s Word in Southeast Asia, that they would be raised up as leaders for missions to North Korea. And above all, we ask for your continued intercession for our sisters still in China, who are in urgent need of rescue.
Please also pray for our prison ministry. Some North Korean escapees, after settling in South Korea, have ended up in prison—sometimes due to ignorance of the law, other times due to mistakes or sins committed knowingly. Though they have escaped the large prison of North Korea, they now find themselves trapped in smaller prisons in South Korea, living their lives without knowing God. Through our prison ministry, we are sharing the love of Jesus Christ with them and praying that God's amazing love will reach their hearts. Although their lives began with hardship in North Korea, we earnestly hope that—even in prison—they will become people like Joseph, encountering God deeply. Let us continue to pray and share love with them together.
The wild ginseng we planted for the North Korean escapees’ community is also growing well! To welcome a guest who visited today, we dug up a few of the 500 ginseng roots planted seven years ago—and were amazed at how beautifully they’ve grown. Just like this ginseng, we pray that the community we are building together with North Korean escapees will bear good fruit—establishing God's kingdom and contributing to your health and joy as well.
Just as this ginseng brings physical healing, may the ministry we build together in love bring spiritual healing and become a joyful, healthy kingdom of God on this earth. As we prepare for the upcoming dedication service, we look forward to worshiping with you and send this message with thanksgiving. Thank you, and may God bless you.

대한민국의 역사 속에 또 하나의 새로운 장이 열렸습니다. 앞으로 기도해야 할 많은 일들이 앞에 놓여 있고, 선교의 현장 역시 여러분의 중보와 동역이 그 어느 때보다 절실한 시기입니다.
이처럼 도전이 많은 때에도, 갈렙선교회는 지난 27년간 그랬듯 변함없이 탈북민을 구출하고 복음을 전하는 사명을 감당해 나가고 있습니다. 그 중심에는 언제나 무릎 꿇어 기도하는 후원자 여러분, 그리고 민족과 나라를 품고 기도해 주시는 기도의 동역자들이 계셨습니다.
이제 이 기도의 불길은 한반도를 넘어, 미국과 유럽에서도 함께 중보하는 회원들이 생겨나고 있습니다. 우리는 오직 하나님만을 바라보며, 그분을 신뢰하며, 기도로 이 사명을 함께 감당해 가기를 원합니다.
최근 중국에서는 여러 가지 어려운 상황 속에서도 다시금 탈북민 구출 사역을 시작하려고 하고 있습니다. 구출은 갈수록 어려워지고, 비용은 증가하고 있습니다. 또한, 동남아 센터에서 탈북민을 양육하고 복음을 전하는 선교사님들과 현지 목회자님들의 사역도 많은 도전 속에 있습니다. 이들을 위해 간절히 기도해 주시기를 부탁드립니다.
최근 구출된 한 자매는 18세에 중국으로 팔려가 말조차 통하지 않는 농촌에서 20년을 살다 탈출했습니다. 그 자매는 “20년 만에 다시 한국어를 쓰고, 김치를 먹게 되었는데, 이렇게 김치가 행복하게 만들 줄 몰랐어요.”라고 말했습니다. 같은 조선말로 대화하는 기쁨, 예수님을 만나 찬양하는 감격은 그녀에게 말할 수 없는 은혜였습니다.
또한 한국에 먼저 정착한 탈북민들이 최근 구출되어 동남아 센터에서 성경공부를 하고 있는 자매들과 영상통화를 하며, 자신들의 정착 이야기와 신앙 간증을 나누는 아름다운 멘토링의 열매들도 맺어지고 있습니다. 혹시 탈북민 양육에 마음이 있으신 분들께서는 연락 주시기 바랍니다. 동남아 센터의 탈북민들과 함께 기도하고, 영상으로 교제하며 격려하는 일에 여러분이 함께하신다면 큰 힘이 될 것입니다.
이곳 공동체 안에서도 하나님께서 준비하신 일들이 하나씩 이루어지고 있습니다. 탈북민들이 복음의 제자로 세워지고, 기도와 훈련을 통해 장차 북한 선교의 리더로 준비되고 있습니다.

A new chapter has opened in the history of South Korea. As we face this new season, there is much to pray for, and the mission field needs your intercession and support now more than ever.
Even in the midst of these challenges, Caleb Mission continues—just as it has for the past 27 years—to rescue North Korean escapees and proclaim the gospel without wavering. At the heart of this mission have always been faithful supporters like you who kneel in prayer, and intercessors who continually lift up this nation and its people.
Now, the flame of prayer is spreading beyond the Korean Peninsula, with members in the United States and Europe joining this spiritual movement. Our desire is to look only to God, trust in Him fully, and walk this path together in prayer.
Despite the severe challenges in China right now, new rescue missions are beginning to emerge. Rescuing escapees is becoming more difficult and costly than ever before. It is also incredibly challenging for our missionaries and local pastors to care for and disciple the rescued North Koreans in our Southeast Asia center. Please remember them in your prayers.
One recently rescued sister was sold into China at the age of 18 and lived in a rural village for 20 years, unable to use her native Korean language. She said, “For the first time in 20 years, I spoke Korean again and ate kimchi—it made me happier than I could have imagined.” She shared that speaking her native language again and worshipping Jesus at the mission center brought unspeakable joy.
We’re also witnessing beautiful moments where North Korean escapees who have already settled in South Korea call newly rescued women in the Southeast Asia center via video, sharing their testimonies about how they escaped through Caleb Mission and their new life and faith in South Korea. These mentoring moments are powerful and encouraging.
If you have a heart for discipling North Korean escapees, we invite you to reach out. You can pray with those in our Southeast Asia center, meet them through video calls, and be a great source of encouragement.
By God’s grace, things are progressing well within our community of escapees. Many are laboring together in faith, being trained as gospel leaders and future missionaries to North Korea. We ask for your continued prayers and partnership. We also believe God will anoint and provide all the resources needed.

이곳 탈북민 공동체에는 감자꽃이 피기 시작했습니다. 동시에 다가오는 장마와 이른 추수를 준비하며, 하나님께서 주실 풍성한 열매를 기대하고 있습니다. 동물들도 건강하게 자라고 번성하고 있습니다. 이처럼 공동체 안에서 생명이 자라나고 번성하듯이, 갈렙선교회의 모든 사역 위에도 하나님의 기름 부으심과 창대케 하시는 은혜가 넘치기를 소망하며 여러분과 함께 기도드립니다.
오늘은 여러분께 몇 가지 기도 제목을 나누고자 합니다. 기도해 주시고, 감동되시는 대로 마음을 모아 주시면 큰 힘이 됩니다.
지금까지 갈렙선교회는 하나님의 기적 같은 은혜로 탈북민들을 구출하고 복음을 전하며 자립을 돕는 일을 감당해 왔습니다. 물론 힘들고 포기하고 싶은 순간들도 있었지만, 그때마다 하나님께서 도우셨고 여러분의 기도와 동역이 큰 위로와 힘이 되었습니다. 그러나 요즘은 사역을 지속하는 데 필요한 재정적 어려움이 커지고 있어 기도의 손을 다시 구합니다. 이 사역이 멈추지 않고 계속 이어질 수 있도록 기도해주시고, 헌신으로 함께해 주시기를 간곡히 부탁드립니다.
지난 봄 미국 투어를 앞두고 하나님께서는 “7,000명의 기도의 용사, $12의 월 후원자”라는 비전을 주셨습니다. 현재 108명이 함께해 주셨고, 다가올 가을 투어를 통해 이 비전을 이루고자 기도하고 있습니다. 이 캠페인은 단순한 모금이 아니라, 하나님께서 북한 땅에 복음의 문을 여실 그날을 준비하는 일입니다. 함께 기도해 주시고 주변에도 나눠 주시기를 부탁드립니다.
지난번 미국 방문 중 감기와 알레르기로 어려움을 겪기도 했지만, 가장 힘들었던 것은 교통편이었습니다. 미국은 워낙 광대하다 보니 도시 간 이동도, 도심 내 이동도 쉽지 않았습니다. 저는 사역 중 입은 부상으로 인해 목에 철심을 박는 수술을 받았고, 지금은 시간이 지나며 통증이 심해져 장거리 운전이나 이동 시 뒤에 누울 수 있는 차량이 꼭 필요합니다. 그래서 7인승 정도의 밴이 적당할 것 같다는 생각을 하게 되었습니다. 혹시 사용하지 않는 차량을 후원해 주시거나, 중고차 구입비용을 후원해 주실 수 있다면 감사하겠습니다. 무엇보다 이 모든 상황 위에 하나님의 뜻과 공급이 있도록 함께 기도해 주시면 감사하겠습니다.
7000명의 동역자 캠페인을 통해 앞으로도 탈북민들을 계속 구출하고 복음을 전할 수 있는 견고한 토대를 세워가고자 합니다. 갈수록 어려워지는 사역 환경 속에서도, 한 생명이라도 놓치지 않고 구하기 위해 최선을 다할 것입니다. 하나님께서 우리의 최선을 통해 역사하실 것이라 믿습니다.
가나의 혼인잔치의 물이 포도주로 바뀌었던 것처럼, 주님은 지금도 준비된 자들을 통해 일하고 계십니다. 여러분의 기도와 헌신이 그 생명을 살리는 시작점이 되기를 소망합니다. 갈렙선교회는 언제나 여러분을 위해 기도하며, 하나님의 축복이 여러분의 가정과 삶 가운데 충만하기를 기도합니다.

Here at the North Korean escapee community, the potato plants are blooming, and as we prepare for the upcoming monsoon and early harvest, we are filled with joyful anticipation. Our animals are healthy and multiplying. Just as life is flourishing here, we pray that God’s anointing and abundant blessing will continue to overflow in every part of Caleb Mission’s work—saving lives, proclaiming the gospel, and raising up future North Korean missionaries.
Today, we would like to share a few prayer requests with you. As the Lord moves your heart, please pray with us and support as you are led—whether small or great, it all matters deeply.
By God’s miraculous grace, we have come this far—rescuing North Korean escapees, sharing the gospel, and helping them rebuild their lives. There have been difficult moments, but your prayers and partnership have always sustained us. Recently, however, we are facing significant financial challenges, and we humbly ask for your continued prayers and support so that this mission may not stop.
Earlier this spring, as we prepared for our U.S. tour, the Lord gave us a vision to raise 7,000 prayer warriors and monthly donors giving $12 each. So far, 108 supporters have joined. We are now praying that through the upcoming fall tour, this vision will be fulfilled. This is not just a fundraiser—it’s a movement of faith preparing for the day God opens the doors to North Korea. We ask you to pray for this campaign and share it with others who might join.
During my last visit to the U.S., I struggled with a cold and allergies, but the most difficult part was transportation. As you know, the U.S. is vast, and getting around—whether flying between cities or moving within them—was challenging. Due to a past injury during ministry, I have metal implants in my neck, and now I experience significant pain, especially during long travel. I believe a 7-seater van would be ideal, allowing me to recline when needed. If you have a vehicle you could donate, or if you feel led to help cover the cost of a used vehicle, we would be incredibly grateful. Above all, we welcome your prayers for God’s provision in this area.
Through the 7,000 Partners campaign, we hope to build a solid foundation to continue rescuing North Korean escapees and expanding our ministry in the U.S. The work is only getting harder, and financial needs are growing—but we are determined not to let even one life be lost. We believe God works through our best efforts, just as He turned water into wine at the wedding in Cana. That same power is still at work today.

할렐루야! 평강의 하나님께서 여러분과 함께하시기를 기도합니다. 항상 여러분의 기도 가운데 갈렙선교회는 성장하고 있으며, 탈북민 사역에 힘쓰고 있습니다.
사실 탈북민들을 구출하는 과정이 있는데, 현재 중국 국경 상황이 매우 심각하여, 지금 이 자매들은 모처에 숨겨진 채 보호받고 있습니다. 이들의 사연을 하나하나 말하자면 끝이 없지만, 대부분은 강제로 팔려가 고통을 겪던 상황에서 갈렙선교회의 도움을 통해 구출되어 동남아 센터에서 성경공부를 하고, 이후 한국으로 오게 됩니다.
이들에게 복음과 자유를 함께 전하는 이 사역은 참으로 귀한 일입니다. 그러나 그만큼 많은 기도와 여러분의 사랑과 관심이 절실히 필요합니다. 현재 숨겨져 있는 자매들이 무사히 국경을 넘어 동남아 센터에 도착할 수 있도록 지속적인 중보기도를 부탁드립니다. 저 역시 매일 이들과 통화하며 기도하고 있지만, 이들은 아직 믿음이 연약하고 신앙이 자라나는 중이기 때문에 많은 두려움과 떨림 가운데 있습니다. 북한으로 강제 송환될 경우 어떤 고통이 따를지를 이들 스스로 너무 잘 알고 있기에, 이 모든 결정은 쉽지 않은 믿음의 도전입니다. 사랑하는 여러분, 이 길 위에 여러분의 기도와 협력이 계속되기를 부탁드립니다.
그리고 이번 주 5월 29일(목) 밤 10시, KBS의 다큐 인사이드 프로그램을 통해 갈렙선교회의 구출 사역과 탈북민을 돕는 현장이 방영될 예정입니다. 많은 관심으로 시청해주시고, 이 사역에 대해 더욱 공감하고 기도해주시길 바랍니다. 이 다큐멘터리를 촬영하는 과정에서도 많은 어려움이 있었고, 특히 사역자들은 위험 속에서도 탈북민을 구출하기 위해 헌신을 다했습니다.
하늘의 상급도 분명히 있지만, 이 길은 여러분의 기도와 응원이 있었기에 가능했습니다. 동남아 센터에서 어려움 속에서도 묵묵히 사역을 감당하고 있는 선교사님들과 협력자들을 위해서도 함께 기도해 주시기를 부탁드립니다.
또한, 저는 9월 02일, 워싱턴 DC에서 공산주의 희생자 박물관의 초청으로 탈북민의 현실과 공산주의의 실체에 대해 강연하고, 비욘드 유토피아 상영과 대화를 나누게 됩니다. 미국에서도 지속적으로 탈북민 사역에 깊은 관심을 갖고 동참해주시는 분들이 계십니다.
하나님께서는 열방을 통해 일하시며 생명과 복음을 전하게 하십니다. 이 사역에 있어, 같은 민족이며 같은 형제자매인 우리가 먼저 마음을 다해 기도하고, 주님께서 주신 "네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하라"는 말씀을 삶으로 실천하는 갈렙선교회와 여러분이 되시길 간절히 기도합니다.

Hallelujah! May the God of peace be with you always. We are deeply grateful for your faithful prayers. Through them, Caleb Mission continues to grow, and we remain committed to serving North Korean escapees with all our strength.
Recently, we’ve been working on a rescue mission involving several North Korean women. Due to the increasingly severe situation at the Chinese border, these women are currently in hiding at a secure location. Their stories are heartbreaking and too many to share in full, but most of them were trafficked into forced marriages and suffered greatly. With the help of Caleb Mission, they were rescued and are now on their way to our Southeast Asia center, where they will study the Bible and, God willing, eventually arrive in South Korea.
Sharing both the gospel and the gift of freedom with these women is a sacred calling. It is also a mission that urgently needs your prayers, love, and support. Please continue to intercede for these women—especially that they may cross the border safely and reach the center without harm. I speak and pray with them every day, but they are still new in their faith and filled with fear. They know all too well what will happen if they are forcibly repatriated to North Korea. This is not an easy decision for them—it is a journey of faith and courage
On Thursday, May 29, at 10 p.m., KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) will air a special episode of its Documentary Inside series featuring Caleb Mission’s rescue efforts and our work to support North Korean escapees. Please tune in if you can, and share this with others who may be interested. Even filming this documentary involved many challenges, and our missionaries risked their lives to carry out these rescues.
Though we know our reward is in heaven, it is your prayers and encouragement that sustain us here and now. We especially ask for your intercession for our missionaries and partners serving faithfully at the Southeast Asia center, even under difficult conditions.
Additionally, I have been invited to speak on September 2nd at the Victims of Communism Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. I will be sharing about the realities faced by North Korean escapees and the true nature of communism, followed by a screening and discussion of Beyond Utopia. We are grateful that there are people in the United States who care deeply and are standing with us in this mission.
God is working through the nations to spread the gospel and bring life to the oppressed. As people who share the same heritage and blood, may we be the first to respond in prayer and compassion—living out the Lord’s command to “love your neighbor as yourself.”
Finally, we ask for your continued prayers for the women awaiting rescue, for those at the Southeast Asia center, and for the North Korean missionaries being trained to preach the gospel.

할렐루야! 평강의 하나님께서 항상 함께하시기를 기도합니다. 요즘 저는 탈북민 센터에서 지내며, 구출 사역을 어떻게 지속할지, 또 북한 선교의 리더들을 어떻게 세울지 깊이 기도하고 있습니다. 동시에 앞으로 이 사역을 함께 감당할 동역자들이 세워지기를 소망합니다.
감사하게도 코로나 이후 재개된 제11차 탈북민 구출 사역이 곧 시작됩니다. 이번에도 수많은 어려움이 있었지만, 특히 마지막 재정의 기름부음을 받기까지 많은 기도와 인내가 필요했습니다. 하나님의 은혜가 아니었다면 사역을 잠시 멈출 수밖에 없는 상황이었기에, 여러분의 기도가 그 어느 때보다 절실합니다.
하지만 저는 믿습니다. 천하보다 귀한 생명을 구하고 복음을 전하는 일에는 반드시 하나님의 공급이 함께합니다.
앞으로도 여러분과 함께 기도하며, 이 귀한 사명을 끝까지 감당해 나가기를 소망합니다. 현재 공동체는 농사 일정이 마무리되는 대로 센터 기공식을 진행하려 하는데 가급적 8월 중에 진행하고자 하나, 미국 일정과 겹칠 수 있어 많은 준비와 기도가 필요합니다. 또한, 미션트립, 교제 모임, 사역 방향 설정 등을 두고 리더들과 함께 기도하며 계획 중입니다.
사랑하는 동역자 여러분, 북한 땅에 복음을 전하고, 믿음의 리더를 세우는 일은 결코 멈출 수 없는 사명입니다.

Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace is always with you.
Lately, I’ve been staying at the North Korean escapees’ community center, praying deeply about how to continue the rescue mission and raise up more leaders for North Korean ministry. At the same time, I look forward to spending time with you here and pray that faithful ministry partners will be raised up to join us in this mission.
By God’s grace, the 11th North Korean rescue operation since COVID-19 is about to begin. There have been many challenges along the way—especially in the final stage of fundraising, when we desperately needed God’s provision. To be honest, without His grace, we would have had to pause this mission. That’s why your intercessory prayers are more vital than ever.
But I firmly believe this: When we rescue souls more precious than the world and share the gospel, God’s provision always follows. I sincerely hope we can continue walking this journey together in prayer and obedience.
As our community wraps up the farming season, we are preparing to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for our new center. Ideally, we hope to hold it in August, but a scheduled trip to the U.S. may affect the timing—so we need much prayer and preparation. We are also praying with our leadership team about future mission trips, fellowship gatherings, and discerning the direction of our ministry.
We must never abandon the mission of preaching the gospel to North Korea and raising up spiritual leaders—this is God’s good and perfect will. But for this mission to continue, the nation must remain strong. Only then can we protect freedom, experience revival, and carry out the work of missions.
Please also join us in prayer for the upcoming presidential election in South Korea.
May the one who pleases God be elected—someone who will lead the people in peace, protect democracy, and support gospel-centered missions like ours. Only by God’s grace can this be accomplished.
Every mission begins and bears fruit through prayer. I humbly ask you to join us in prayer this week—for the rescue mission, and for the nation and people of Korea.

Lord, so many North Korean escapees are crying out for help. Please ensure that this rescue mission is carried out safely, and that more precious lives may be saved and hear the gospel.
Lord, anoint Caleb Mission’s prison ministry in South Korea. May those who are imprisoned be restored in Christ and be raised up as workers of life through Jesus.

할렐루야! 평강의 하나님께서 함께 하시기를 기도합니다. 저는 현재 탈북민들이 국내에 잘 정착하고, 복음 안에서 새로운 삶을 시작할 수 있도록 사역하고 있습니다.
탈북민들이 북한 선교의 리더로 세워지는 그 날까지, 궁극적으로는 더 이상 탈북민을 구출하지 않아도 되는 복음으로 통일이 될 날이 속히 오길 기도하고 있습니다.
최근 몇몇 탈북민 단체장들이 저희 공동체를 방문해, “이곳 처럼 탈북민들이 함께 모이고, 서로의 아픔을 나눌 수 있는 공간이 절실하다.”고 말씀해주셨습니다.
또한 최근 국내 관계자와의 대화를 통해 알게 된 사실은, 국내에 입국하는 탈북민의 약 4분의 1이 갈렙선교회를 통해 구출되었고, 복음을 들었다는 사실이었습니다. 이 얼마나 감사한 일인지요! 이 모든 것은 여러분의 기도와 동역의 열매입니다.
이 사역이 계속되기 위해서는 여러분의 지속적인 기도와 후원이 절실합니다. 금액의 크기가 중요한 것이 아닙니다. 한 생명을 향한 마음과 헌신이 모여, 복음통일을 앞당기는 통로가 됩니다. 우리는 단지 구출하는 것에 그치지 않고, 그들을 제자로 세워 북한 땅을 변화시킬 하나님의 사람으로 세우는 일에 헌신하고 있습니다.
또한 동남아에서 성경을 공부하고 있는 탈북 형제자매들에게도 영과 육의 양식을 전하고 있습니다.

We also learned that one in four new arrivals to South Korea were rescued through Caleb Mission—and heard the gospel through this ministry.

할렐루야! 평강의 하나님께서 여러분과 항상 함께 하시기를 기도드립니다. 여러분의 귀한 기도 덕분에 저는 무사히 한국으로 돌아왔습니다.
이번 여정은 육체적으로도 영적으로도 참 힘든 시간이었지만, 미국 국회와 유엔 활동, 그리고 여러 교회들의 초청으로 북한 선교의 비전을 함께 나누는 은혜의 시간을 보낼 수 있었습니다. 한 달 보름의 여정 가운데 감기와 폐렴 증세로 고생도 했지만, 여러분의 기도 덕분에 잘 견딜 수 있었습니다.
무엇보다도 가장 감사한 소식은, 부활절을 맞이하여 시작된 탈북민 구출 사역입니다. 부활절 당일, 탈북민들이 메콩강을 무사히 건너 자유의 땅에 도착했습니다! 복음을 듣고 예수님을 만나는 이 생명의 사역에 함께할 수 있음이 얼마나 큰 은혜인지요. 이 모든 것은 여러분의 기도와 동역이 있었기에 가능했습니다.
미국의 많은 한인 교회들과 현지 교회들이 [비욘드 유토피아]를 통해 갈렙랩선교회의 사역을 알게 되었고, 북한 선교에 동참하겠다는 귀한 마음들도 이어졌습니다. 지금까지, 그리고 앞으로도 우리가 탈북민을 구출하고 복음을 전할 수 있는 힘은 오직 하나님의 은혜와 여러분의 기도입니다.
이제 저는 8월까지 한국 내 사역에 집중하려고 합니다. 혹시 이 소식을 읽는 교회나 단체 중에서 저를 초청해 주실 수 있다면, 언제든지 기쁘게 북한 선교와 갈렙랩선교회 사역을 나누겠습니다. 한 영혼이라도 더 살리고 복음을 전하는 이 사역에, 여러분 함께해 주시기를 간절히 바랍니다.
한국에 돌아와 보니 어느덧 봄이 완연합니다. 감사하게도 탈북민 공동체도 완공되었고, 이곳에서 탈북민들과 함께 하나님을 예배하고 합력하며 살아가고 있습니다. 뒤편 야산에는 닭장도 세워져 100여 마리의 닭들이 자라고 있고, 사과나무와 감나무 등 다양한 과일나무들도 심고 있습니다. 언제든지 방문해 주시면 기쁜 마음으로 함께 나누고 교제하겠습니다.
이곳은 단순한 거처가 아니라, 탈북민들과 소통하며 북한 선교의 비전과 방향을 함께 나누는 공동체입니다. 계속해서 동남아 센터의 사역이 지속될 수 있도록 여러분의 특별한 기도가 필요합니다.
사실 이번에 구출한 자매를 끝으로 현재 재정이 매우 부족한 상황입니다. 최근 몇 년 사이 탈북민 구출 비용이 과거보다 10배나 증가하면서, 사역을 이어가는 데 현실적인 어려움이 커졌습니다. 하지만 우리가 기도로 하나 되고, 함께 이 길을 간다면, 하나님께서 반드시 함께하시고 역사하실 줄 믿습니다.
완공된 탈북민 공동체는 앞으로 탈북민들의 세미나와 훈련 장소로 활용될 예정입니다. 이 소중한 사역에 계속해서 기도와 동역으로 함께해 주시기를 부탁드립니다. 감사합니다.

Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace will be with you all. Thanks to your precious prayers, I have safely returned to Korea.
This journey was challenging, but by God’s grace, I could spend a meaningful month and a half sharing the vision of North Korean missions through activities at the U.S. Congress, the United Nations, and various churches that warmly welcomed me. Although I struggled with symptoms of a cold and pneumonia during the trip, I persevered because of your prayers. I am truly grateful.
Above all, I want to share the most joyful news. Our new North Korean rescue mission, launched in honor of Easter, bore incredible fruit. On Easter Sunday, four North Korean escapees safely crossed the Mekong River and reached a land of freedom! It is an overwhelming grace to be part of this life-saving ministry—bringing the Gospel to our North Korean brothers and sisters and witnessing them meet Jesus. This was all possible because of your faithful prayers and partnership.
Many churches in the U.S. learned about Caleb Mission through the documentary Beyond Utopia, and some have already expressed their heartfelt desire to join in the work of North Korean missions. The strength to continue rescuing and evangelizing North Korean escapees has come—and will continue to come—through God’s grace and your faithful intercession.
From now until August, I plan to focus on domestic ministry in Korea. If any churches or organizations reading this message would be willing to invite me, I would be honored to come and share about Caleb Mission and North Korean ministry. I sincerely invite you to join us in saving lives and proclaiming the Gospel to even one more soul.
Since returning to Korea, I have felt spring in full bloom. I am also deeply thankful that the North Korean community center has been completed. Here, North Korean escapees live and worship together as one body in Christ. In the nearby hills, we’ve built a chicken coop with over 100 chickens and are planting various fruit trees, such as apple and persimmon trees. You are always welcome to visit—we would love to fellowship with you and share what God is doing.
This is more than just a community center. It is a true community where we communicate deeply with North Korean brothers and sisters and share the vision and direction of North Korean missions. Your continued prayers are especially needed to keep the Southeast Asia Center active and strong.
Our finances are at a critical low after our most recent rescue mission. The cost of rescuing North Korean escapees has risen more than tenfold in recent years, making it increasingly difficult to continue this work. However, with all my heart, I believe that as we unite in prayer and move forward, God will continue to lead and work through us.
The newly completed Southeast Asia center will now be used for seminars and training for North Korean escapees. I sincerely ask for your continued prayers and partnership in this precious ministry. Thank you so much.

이곳은 빌리 그래함 목사님의 사역 중에서도 가장 많은 사람들이 예수님을 영접했던, 여의도 부흥회를 기념하는 특별한 장소이기도 합니다. 이 자리에서 대한민국에 그리스도의 나라를 세우기 위해 함께 기도해 주신 믿음의 동역자들께 깊이 감사드립니다. 또한, 이렇게 귀한 기독교 역사를 잘 보존해 준 기념관을 보며 큰 감동과 감사를 느낍니다.

Thanks to your prayers, my health has greatly improved. I sincerely thank you. By God’s grace, I am currently visiting the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina.
This place commemorates one of the most powerful moments in Billy Graham’s ministry—when the largest number of people came to know Jesus, including during the great revival at Yeouido in Korea. As I stand here, I am deeply grateful to all of you, my fellow prayer partners in Christ, who have faithfully prayed for God's kingdom to be established in Korea. I also give thanks for this beautiful library that has so well preserved the history of the Christian faith.
While here in the United States, I’ve been greatly encouraged to see that many are still praying for North Korean missions. I will soon return to Korea to resume ministry—rescue efforts, discipleship, and the work of the center. I humbly ask for your continued prayers, that God’s guidance will be with me in every step and that all will be completed according to His will.
The rescue mission for North Korean escapees is starting again. I earnestly ask for your prayers so that not a single soul will be lost, but that each one may be led to the Lord and receive the gospel.

Thanks to your prayers and faithful partnership, I am participating in the Korean Fest in Raleigh, North Carolina. Here, I am having a precious time sharing the film Beyond Utopia and introducing Caleb Mission’s ministry for North Korea to many Americans.
I am truly grateful that so many people here deeply understand the reality of the Korean Peninsula, pray with us, and are becoming supporters and co-laborers in this work. Being here has once again reminded me that we are one family, one body, and one global community in Christ.
Dear friends, in Jesus, there is true life and abundant blessings. That is why we continue to rescue North Korean escapees and share the gospel with them—this is the ministry of life we are called to do together. I sincerely thank you for your earnest prayers. Because of them, my health has greatly improved, and I am now able to continue with the next steps in the mission.

지난주에 말씀드렸듯이, 여러분의 기도와 중보를 통해 다섯 명의 탈북민이 생명의 위기에서 구원받았고, 그들이 복음을 받아들였습니다. 동남아센터에 있는 탈북민들과 통화했는데, 그분들은 여러분의 기도에 깊이 감사드리며, 열심히 성경을 공부하고 북한 선교의 밀알이 되겠다고 다짐했습니다.
저 또한 여러분의 기도로 워싱턴 D.C.와 뉴욕 유엔 본부에서의 모든 일정을 무사히 마칠 수 있었습니다. 사실, 빡빡한 일정 속에서 심한 피로를 느꼈고, 디시와 뉴욕의 환절기 날씨로 인해 감기 증상이 심해져 폐렴이 의심될 정도로 고통스러운 시간을 보냈습니다. 아직도 회복 중이라 약을 복용하고 있습니다.
현재 저는 노스캐롤라이나 롤리에 와 있으며, 앞으로 약 20일간의 일정을 시작하게 됩니다. 이곳은 자연이 아름답고 공기가 맑아 참 좋지만, 꽃가루가 많이 날리는 계절이라 알레르기 증상이 심해 한쪽 눈이 심하게 부어 있는 상태입니다. 외적으로도 좋지 않게 보일까 걱정되지만, 무엇보다도 컨디션을 잘 회복해야 하는 상황입니다.

As I mentioned last week, five North Korean escapees were saved from life-threatening situations through your prayers and intercession and have now accepted the gospel. I recently spoke with the escapees staying at the Southeast Asia Center, and they wanted me to convey their deep gratitude for your prayers. They diligently study the Bible and have committed themselves to becoming seeds for North Korean missions.
Thanks to your prayers, I was also able to complete all my engagements in Washington, D.C., and at the United Nations headquarters in New York safely. I was extremely exhausted from the tight schedule, and the changing seasons in D.C. and New York made my cold symptoms so severe that I was even concerned about pneumonia. I am still recovering and taking medication.
Currently, I am in Raleigh, North Carolina, where I will begin about 20 days of scheduled activities. This place is wonderful with its abundant nature, but since it is pollen season, my allergies have flared up badly, causing one of my eyes to swell significantly. Not only is it uncomfortable, but I also worry that it might not look good to others.
In particular, I will soon be participating in the Raleigh Korean Fest, which many people are expected to visit. It will be a great opportunity to introduce them to North Korean missions and share about Korea. That is why I sincerely ask for your prayers for my health and a quick recovery this week.
I pray that all the activities here will glorify God, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to you all. Let us pray together.

1. Heavenly Father, I entrust all the plans in North Carolina into Your hands. May divine encounters lead to the fulfillment of Your work.
2. Lord, I lift up the North Korean sisters who will be rescued in April. Guide their preparation and safe escape, and strengthen the workers so they do not grow weary.
3. God, anoint and be with the local pastors and missionaries at the Southeast Asia center who are helping North Korean escapees. Please also sustain my health and give me strength for all upcoming tasks.

By God’s grace and through your prayers, I am now in front of the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Inside the UN, I had the precious opportunity to share the realities of North Korean escapees and the ministry of Caleb Mission. I also met with the South Korean ambassador to the UN in New York and discussed North Korean human rights. Many people who heard about this mission work were deeply moved.
In particular, those who watched Beyond Utopia offered great encouragement and expressed their hope that Caleb Mission would continue to play a greater role in advocating for North Korean human rights.
Dear friends, your prayers have not been in vain. Just three days ago, five North Korean defectors safely arrived at our center in Southeast Asia. This was only possible by God’s grace and through your devoted prayers and intercession. I sincerely thank you.
As I continue this mission and prepare to return, please pray for my health and for the upcoming gatherings to be filled with God’s grace.

Thanks to your heartfelt intercession and prayers, I am now at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Here, at the Unification Plaza Prayer Gathering, we are lifting up prayers for our nation, our people, and for North Korean residents—our flesh and blood—who continue to suffer, along with countless North Korean escapees in need. I trust that you, too, will join us in prayer from Korea.
In the coming days, at the U.S. Congress and the United Nations, Caleb Mission will have the opportunity to share the reality of North Korean escapees. We are deeply grateful that God is using us as an instrument of His will in this mission.
I earnestly ask for your continued prayers, especially for those who are currently risking everything to escape from North Korea. Pray that they may reach freedom safely under God’s protection and that their lives may glorify Him. More importantly, may these individuals become future leaders in North Korean missions, carrying the torch of faith to the next generation.

Thanks to your prayers, I have safely arrived in Washington, D.C. A week ahead of the U.S. Congressional Forum and the UN Commission on the Status of Women panel event, I am here preparing for these important occasions. I am committed to visiting churches and government institutions that God has prepared, to share the reality of North Korea
Above all, I earnestly ask for your prayers.
Currently, China is holding its largest annual political event, the Two Sessions, which has led to intensified crackdowns on North Korean defectors. However, as soon as the Two Sessions conclude, our rescue team will begin full-scale operations to help them escape.
This rescue mission will coincide with my testimony at the UN. During this time, your prayers and support are more critical than ever. Saving lives and spreading the gospel is a vital mission for the gospel-centered reunification of our nation, and through this, we desire to glorify God.
I also ask you to pray for the safety and freedom of North Korean women in China. Additionally, please continue to intercede for my health and for God’s miraculous work to be revealed throughout this journey.

할렐루야! 평강의 하나님께서 여러분과 함께 하시기를 기도합니다. 저는 지금 강원도 고성 삼팔선에서 탈북민 리더들과 함께 북한 선교를 위한 기도를 하고 있습니다. 이들은 고향을 바라보면서도 돌아갈 수 없는 아픔을 가지고 있지만, 오직 복음으로 통일된 북한을 소망하며 사역하고 있습니다.
저는 곧 미국으로 떠나 북한 선교의 필요성과 탈북민 인권을 알리는 사역을 하게 됩니다. 특히 3월 29일, 노스캐롤라이나 랄리에서 열리는 KoreanFest에 참여하게 되었으며, 행사에서 갈렙선교회 부스를 무료로 제공해 주셨습니다. 이 행사를 통해 미국인들과 한인들이 북한 사역의 중요성을 깨닫고 동참할 수 있도록 기도 부탁드립니다. 또한 3월 28~29일 행사를 도와주실 자원봉사자를 모집하고 있으니 언어와 관계없이 함께 봉사해주실 분들의 많은 참여를 기다립니다.
그리고 최근 갈렙선교회에 정착한 한 탈북민 자매가 있습니다. 그녀는 북한에서 두 번이나 수용소 생활을 하며 심각한 학대와 구타를 당했고, 그로 인해 어금니가 모두 부러지고 빠지는 큰 부상을 입어, 현재 식사조차 어려운 상황이지만, 신학교에 진학하여 하나님의 사명을 감당하고자 하는 간절한 소망을 가지고 있습니다. 그러나 치료비 마련이 어려워 도움을 요청합니다. 치과에 계시거나 후원을 원하시는 분들의 관심과 기도를 부탁드립니다.
그녀와 같은 탈북민들이 하나님께 쓰임받는 리더들로 세워질 수 있도록, 이 사역을 통해서 많은 사람들이 북한 선교에 관심을 갖고 하나님의 나라가 더욱 확장될 수 있도록 기도부탁드립니다.

Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace will be with you all. I am at the 38th parallel near the Unification Observatory in Goseong, Gangwon Province, today. Before I leave for the United States, I am here with North Korean escapees, sharing the vision for North Korean missions and praying for our ministry.
The North Korean leaders gathered here with me today can see their hometown, yet are unable to return. We hold onto the hope that they will one day set foot on North Korean soil through unification in the spirit of the Gospel. Let us pray for God to anoint His abundant grace upon their ministry.
Before I embark on my journey to the United States, I want to share a prayer request. As I passionately serve in the U.S., advocating for North Korean missions and the human rights of defectors, your intercession and prayers are greatly needed.
On March 29, I will be participating in the Korean Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina. The festival has kindly provided a booth for the Caleb Mission, where our goal is to raise awareness about missions in North Korea among Americans and to encourage interest within the Korean community.
We are in search of volunteers from the Raleigh area to assist with the event on March 28 and 29. No specific language skills are required. If you’re interested in helping out, please email contact@calebmission.com. Thank you!
I would like to share an important prayer request regarding a sister who escaped from North Korea and has recently settled at Caleb Mission. She endured immense suffering during her two stints in concentration camps in North Korea. In particular, she faced severe beatings and abuse, which resulted in serious injuries. Tragically, all of her molars were broken and fell out, leaving her in constant pain that made it difficult for her to eat properly.
I asked her why she hadn’t mentioned this earlier. She replied that her life had been saved, so she didn’t want to burden me with too much. Despite these painful challenges, she remains resilient and continues serving the ministry.
Receiving treatment has been a challenge for her due to financial difficulties. She needs your love and support as she prepares for seminary and pursues the Lord's work during these challenging times. Prayers for her healing are greatly needed. If you are a dentist or know someone who can assist in this situation, please reach out; your support would be invaluable.

이 자매님은 다큐 '비욘드 유토피아'를 통해 탈북민들의 어려움을 알게 되었고, 에베레스트 정상에 갈렙선교회의 깃발을 꽂으며 북한 사역을 알린 바 있습니다. 이번에는 탈북민들의 고난의 여정을 세상에 알리기 위해 '마라톤 더 사브레'(7일간 250km 사하라 사막 마라톤)에 도전합니다. 목표는 1km마다 80달러를 후원받아 완주 시 2만 달러를 모금, 한 명의 탈북민을 구출하는 것입니다. 자매님의 건강과 하나님의 인도하심을 위해 중보해 주시기 바랍니다.
두 번째는 갈렙선교회의 한국 내 감옥사역입니다.
탈북민들 중 일부는 한국 사법 체계에 익숙하지 않거나 북한의 가족을 돕기 위해 비정상적인 방법을 선택했다가 수감된 경우가 있습니다. 갈렙선교회는 이들에게 복음을 전하기 위해 감옥 사역을 준비 중인데, 현재 성경과 찬송가가 합본된 새 성경책이 부족한 상황입니다. 가정에 새 성경 합본이 있거나, 후원 의향이 있으신 분들은 갈렙선교회로 연락주시면 감사하겠습니다.

Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace be with you. Today, I would like to share three prayer requests with you.
The first prayer request is for a sister who successfully climbed Mount Everest. Through the documentary "Beyond Utopia," she became aware of the hardships faced by North Korean escapees. In order to raise awareness about North Korean ministry and give glory to God, she raised the flag of Caleb Mission at the summit of Everest.
Now, she is taking on a new challenge by participating in the "Marathon des Sables," a grueling race that covers 250 km across the Sahara Desert over the course of seven days. Her goal is to raise awareness about the difficult journey that North Korean escapees endure when crossing the Mongolian desert.
Her goal is to find donors who will donate $80 for every kilometer she runs, aiming to raise $20,000 upon completing the 250 km. This amount will be used to rescue one North Korean defector. With a heart devoted to saving one soul more precious than the world, she embarks on this journey. I kindly ask for your prayers and support for her challenge, especially for her health and God's guidance throughout this journey.
The second prayer request is for Caleb Mission’s prison ministry in South Korea.
Among those who have fled North Korea to South Korea, many face challenges due to a lack of understanding of the South Korean legal system. Some have been imprisoned for taking unconventional measures to help their starving families in North Korea. Caleb Mission is preparing to minister to these prisoners by sharing the Gospel and walking alongside them.
Most preparations for this ministry are well underway, but we urgently need new Bibles that include both Scriptures and hymnals. If you have any new combined Bible-hymnals at home or would like to contribute, please send them to Caleb Mission or contact us directly. With your support, we hope to share the Gospel with prisoners and invite them to be part of God’s Kingdom. (This request is specifically for people in South Korea due to shipping costs.)
The final prayer request is for laptops to assist in the rescue of North Korean escapees. Seven local missionaries in Southeast Asia, primarily pastors, urgently need these devices for their ministry. While used laptops were an option, new ones would be more effective. Each new laptop costs about 1.5 million KRW (around $1,150). If you feel led to donate or contribute, it would greatly support their work in rescuing escapees and spreading the Gospel in local communities.

할렐루야. 평강의 하나님께서 함께 하시기를 기도합니다. 여러분께 특별 기도 요청드립니다. 현재 우리 탈북민들이 탈출을 앞두고 있는데 중국은 가면 갈수록 탈북민들의 탈출을 막고 있어 이럴 때일수록 우리의 무기인 강력한 기도가 필요할 것 같습니다.
또한 갈렙선교회가 지난 1월 재정을 계수하여 보니, 12월의 3분의 1도 안되는 참으로 어려운 상황에 놓여 있습니다. 탈북민 구출 비용이 코로나 이전보다 10배나 오른 상황에서 이 비용을 감당하기에는 어려움이 있습니다.
또한, 갈렙선교회에서 구출했던 탈북민들이 하나원을 졸업하고 한두 명씩 계속 교회로 정착하기 시작하면서 이들을 돕고 세우는 일에도 많은 기도와 후원이 필요합니다. 단순히 생명을 살리는 것 외에도 그들에게 복음을 전할 수 있도록 함께 기도해주시고 헌신해 주시기를 간곡히 부탁드립니다.
저는 이달이 지나면 미국의 수잔 숄티 여사와 UN 행사를 갖게 됩니다. 이 행사를 통해 고통받는 북한 주민들의 인권문제가 더욱 세상에 알려지고, 갈렙선교회틑 통해 그들의 생명을 살리고 복음을 전하는 데 쓰임 받을 수 있도록 중보 부탁드립니다.
그리고 미국 내에서 저를 초청하여 간증을 나누고 함께 기도하기 원하는 교회나 단체는 연락주시기 바랍니다.
곧 구출 예정인 자매들은 한마을에 집단으로 팔려간 자매들입니다. 21세기에도 이런 일들이 벌어지고 있는 것은 참으로 안타까운 일이며, 오직 복음 통일만이 저 북한의 장벽을 허물 수 있다고 믿습니다.

Hallelujah! We pray that the God of peace be with you all. We request your special prayers. Currently, North Korean escapees are attempting to escape, but China is increasingly obstructing their efforts.
In times like these, we need our powerful weapon: prayer.
In January, donations were less than a third of December's total. Rescuing North Korean escapees has become ten times more expensive since the coronavirus pandemic began, making our efforts very challenging.
As North Korean escapees rescued by Caleb Mission are released from *Hanawon and settled into churches, they need prayer and support to rebuild their lives. We invite you to join us in praying and helping guide them in their discipleship for Jesus.
Next month, I will be attending a UN event alongside Suzanne Scholte. Our goal during this event is to raise awareness about the human rights issues faced by the suffering people of North Korea. We hope that Caleb Mission can play a vital role in saving their lives and spreading the gospel.

*Hanawon is a South Korean facility that helps North Korean escapees adjust to life in South Korea. The name means "House of Unity" in Korean.
How it works
North Korean escapees must pass through the North Korean Refugee Protection Center, where they are interrogated.
If they pass the interrogation, they are admitted to Hanawon for training.
3 things to Pray
1. God, thank you for using the Caleb Mission to save lives. Please unify Koreas through the Gospel so rescue ministries are no longer needed.
2. God, please remember those who are still being trafficked in China. May they be safely rescued and transformed by the Word at the Southeast Asia Center, and may they be grounded solely in the Gospel.
3. God, please anoint the journey in the United States so that he can connect with God's people in the work of saving lives. Please grant Pastor Kim good health.

할렐루야. 평강의 하나님께서 함께 하시기를 기도합니다. 회원 여러분. 새해 복 많이 받으시고, 하나님의 은혜가 올 한 해도 가득하시기를 기도합니다.
오늘 우리 탈북민들과 함께 갈렙선교회 탈북민 센터에서 함께 예배 드리고, 명절 음식을 나누며 함께 시간을 보냈습니다. 탈북민들이 함께 가족같이 지내며 위로의 시간이 되기를 목회자로서 기도합니다.
이곳은 너무 많은 눈이 왔는데 동남아 센터에 있는 탈북민들과 영상 통화로 새해 인사를 하니 이곳의 모습을 부러워합니다. 또 이곳에 있는 분들은 따뜻한 동남아 센터를 보면서 부러워하고, 사람은 양면성이 있는 거 같습니다.
누군가는 죽음에 허우적거리면서 살려 달라고 하고, 어떤 사람은 모든 것을 가진 것 같지만 상대적 빈곤에 시달리는 모습들을 보며, 이것이 세상을 살아가는 많은 사람들의 모습이 아닌가 싶습니다.
우리가 예수 그리스도를 만남으로서 고린도후서 6장 10절의 말씀처럼 없는 자 같으나 모두를 부요케 하는 것이 바로 '믿음'입니다.
우리 탈북민들에게도 이 새로운 땅에서의 삶이 돈 많이 벌어서 잘 먹고 잘 사는 것이 목적이 아닌 예수 그리스도의 자녀가 되고 하나님 나라의 사역을 위해서 세워지는 것이 되기를, 이들이 북한 선교의 리더로 이곳 탈북민 센터에서 양육되기를 기도합니다.
자신의 생명을 걸고 사역하시는 분들, 그리고 구출해 달라고 대기하고 있는 우리 탈북민들에게 하나님의 은혜가 함께 하기를 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 여러분! 평안한 시간 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 기도하며 축복합니다. 감사합니다.

Hallelujah! We pray that the God of peace be with you all. Greetings once again during the Lunar New Year! I wish you a happy new year and pray that God’s grace fills your lives this year.
Today, we spent time with North Korean escapees at the Caleb Mission North Korean Center, worshiping together and sharing holiday food. I am grateful we can gather, even in such a small space. As a pastor, I pray that North Korean escapees find comfort in one another and can come together as a family in Christ, alleviating their loneliness.
It's challenging here with all the snow. However, the North Korean escapees at the Southeast Asia Center envied the life we had when we exchanged New Year's greetings via video call. People here also feel envious of the warm climate at the Southeast Asian center. I found it ironic how we all long for what the other has.
Some people face life-threatening situations and seek help, while others appear to have everything but still suffer from relative poverty. This reflects the reality for many individuals in the world today. When we encounter Jesus Christ, it is faith that truly enriches us, even if we seem to have nothing, as mentioned in 2 Corinthians 6:10.
With Jesus Christ within us, we can view our surroundings differently and lead a transformed life. I pray that for North Korean escapees, their purpose here goes beyond making money and living well; it should be to become children of Jesus Christ and serve God's kingdom. May those at this center be raised as leaders in North Korean missions, all made possible by God's grace and your prayers.
Please join us in prayer and intercession for God's grace to be with those who risk their lives for ministry, as well as for our North Korean escapees who are waiting to be rescued. I pray and bless you all in the name of the Lord, and I hope you have a peaceful time. Thank you.

할렐루야. 평강의 하나님께서 함께 하시기를 기도합니다. 설 명절 고향에 방문해서 가족들과 은혜로운 시간 보내고 계시길 기도합니다. 하지만 고향에 방문하고 싶어도 갈 수 없는 우리 탈북자들은 사실 이 긴 연휴가 무엇보다도 힘든 시간입니다.
이런 탈북민들의 마음을 알기에 지난 3주 동안 우리 탈북민 사역자들과 함께 천안 탈북민 공동체의 야외 카페 공사를 했습니다. 이곳에서 겨울에 화목난로로 고구마를 굽고, 커피 한잔할 수 있는 공간을 마련했습니다. 갈렙선교회 회원들도 오셔서 함께 좋은 교제의 시간을 가졌으면 좋겠습니다.
다가오는 3월 중순에 국제적 탈북 인권 운동가 수잔 솔티 여사와 함께 UN과 미 국회에서 탈북민 인권 향상을 위한 행사를 진행하게 되었습니다.

I hope you take the opportunity to visit your hometown during the long Lunar New Year holiday and spend quality time with family and friends. While some people return to their hometowns every year, others may have to wait until the following year. For North Korean escapees who are unable to visit their hometowns, this holiday can be particularly challenging.
Caleb Mission recognizes the challenges faced by North Korean escapees. Recently, we and our North Korean ministers built an outdoor café at the North Korean Center in Cheonan, offering roasted sweet potatoes and coffee, even in winter. We invite Caleb Mission supporters to join us for this experience.
In mid-March, we will join events at the United Nations and U.S. Congress to advocate for the human rights of North Korean escapees. We are collaborating with international human rights activist Suzanne Scholte. We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Caleb Mission and American Christian human rights organizations.
I plan to visit the United States from early March to April to share the work of Caleb Mission and help save more North Korean escapees' lives. If you would like to invite me to speak at your location and hear my testimony, as well as pray with me, please contact us at contact@calebmission.com.
We rescued three North Korean escapees just before the Lunar New Year. The rescue missions will continue in February. They will study the Bible in Southeast Asia before settling in Korea, where we will nurture future leaders for North Korean missions. This work thrives on your prayers and intercession. 2025년 1월 넷째 주 소식
할렐루야. 평강의 하나님께서 함께 하시기를 기도합니다. 날씨가 많이 춥고, 비와 눈이 오는 등 계절의 변화가 매우 심합니다. 하지만 하나님의 복음사역은 계속 진행될 것입니다.
설 명절이 다가옵니다. 명절이 다가오면 중국에 숨어있는 탈북민들이나 동남아 센터에 있는 탈북민들, 또 한국에 정착하여 갈렙선교회와 함께 하는 탈북민들이 고향에 두고 온 부모와 형제가 잘 지내는지 살아는 있는지 더욱 그리워하는 시간들입니다. 이 외로운 시간들을 여러분들께서 함께해 주시고 위로해 주시기를 원합니다.
'갈 수 있는데 안 가는 것'과 '가고 싶은데 못 가는 것'은 많은 차이가 있습니다. 우리 탈북민들이 복음 통일만이 고향에 돌아갈 수 있는 유일한 길이라는 확신을 갖고 더욱 하나님께 의지하고 기도하는 자, 무릎 꿇는 자로 세워질 수 있도록 함께 기도해 주시길 바랍니다.
우리 탈북민들이 한국에 정착하는데 여러 가지 필요한 것들이 있습니다. 여러분 가정에서 혹시 사용 안 하시는 물건 중 탈북민들에게 필요할 만한 물건들을 보내주시면 우리 탈북민들에게 유용하게 쓰이게 될 것입니다. 예를 들어 컴퓨터도 필요하고, 옷 등 다양한 것들이 필요합니다. 지금까지 협조해 주시고 함께 하신 여러분들께서 탈북민들에게 혼자가 아니라 함께 하는 사람들이 있다는 것을 알게 하시고 나누어주셔서 이것이 그리스도 안에 있는 사랑임을 전해 주시길 바랍니다.

Hallelujah! We pray that the God of peace be with you all. The weather is very cold, and the seasons change drastically, with rain and snow. However, God's gospel ministry will continue.
As the Lunar New Year holiday approaches, North Korean escapees in China, Southeast Asia, and South Korea are feeling a deep longing for their parents and siblings left behind. They wonder if their loved ones are well or even alive. Let's join together to offer them comfort during this difficult time.
There is a significant difference between saying, "I can go, but I don’t," and "I want to go, but I can’t." Let us pray together so that our North Korean escapees can learn to rely more on God, pray, and kneel with the confidence that unification through the gospel is the only path to returning to their hometowns.
There are many things that North Korean escapees need to settle in South Korea. If you have any items at home that you don't use but could be useful to North Korean escapees, please consider sending them to us. Items like computers, clothing, and various other necessities are greatly appreciated.
I encourage everyone who has supported us to remind them they are not alone. There are people who care about them. Let’s show our support based on love and compassion, inspired by our faith in Christ. Thank you for your generosity.

Hallelujah! We pray that the God of peace be with you all. Currently, I am focused on various ideas and prayers at the North Korean Defector Center, aiming to rescue North Korean escapees and spread the gospel this year. We are praying that, through these escapees, God will bring about change in North Korea and raise them as leaders of His ministry.
In the United States, there is an organization called GuideStar that verifies the transparency and efficiency of nonprofit organizations. Among these, Caleb Mission has received the highest rating. We are grateful for this. While gaining recognition is important, the most crucial aspect is acknowledging our efforts by God, as we strive to save lives and spread the gospel. I truly believe that all of this has been possible thanks to your prayers and support.
North Korean escapees rescued by Caleb Mission have settled in our church after arriving from the Southeast Asia Center. We are working to prepare them as future leaders by renovating the center to create a worship space and an outdoor area for coffee and roasted sweet potatoes in winter. I look forward to the day you can join our community as well.
Please take care of yourselves and stay healthy during the cold weather and seasonal changes. I believe in a life devoted to God that emphasizes physical and spiritual health. It is important to lead a prayer life, save lives, and spread the gospel. I hope to see these commitments nurtured in harmony with God.

할렐루야. 평강의 하나님께서 함께 하시기를 기도합니다. 2025년 새해가 밝았고 새해에 여러분과 갈렙선교회가 함께하는 기쁨을 주심을 감사합니다. 올해도 더욱 많은 생명을 살리고 복음 전하기를 원합니다.
저는 지금 속초 앞바다에 와 있습니다. 제가 올해 부끄럽지만 만60세를 맞이해서 우리 탈북민들과 함께 와 있습니다.
현재 제가 목이 너무 아파서 이곳에 치료를 받으러 왔습니다.
갈렙선교회는 올해 많은 비전을 가지고 있습니다. 최소한 올해 50명 이상의 탈북민들을 구출하고자 합니다. 구출된 탈북민들을 동남아센터에서 성경 교육을 하고, 한국에 들어오면 리더로 양육하는 선교학교를 진행하려고 합니다. 이 일에는 여러분들의 기도와 동역이 필요합니다.
올해도 미국 방문 일정들이 잡혀 있습니다. 우리가 이제 탈북민 교육과 이들을 리더로 양성하기 위해 신학교에 보내고 북한 복음 선교의 리더로 세우기 위해서 많은 기도가 필요합니다.
중국의 탈북민 북송 정책 때문에 안타까운 사연들이 너무 많습니다. 중국에 숨어있는 자매들의 구출을 위해서 여러분의 기도가 필요합니다.

Hallelujah! We pray that the God of peace be with you all. The new year of 2025 has arrived, and we thank God for giving Caleb Mission the joy of welcoming you in this new year. In 2025, we aim to save more lives and spread the gospel.
I am currently at Sokcho Beach, celebrating my 60th birthday with fellow North Korean escapees. I am also here for treatment, as my neck is still painful. I thank God for allowing me to share the New Year's newsletter during this time.
Caleb Mission aims to rescue at least 50 North Korean escapees this year. Once rescued, we will provide Bible studies and training as missionaries in South Korea, where we will also establish a mission school. We appreciate your prayers and support to make this mission possible.
I plan to visit the U.S. again this year. Additionally, we ask for your prayers as we work to send a seminary to educate North Korean escapees and train them as leaders. Please pray earnestly for this important cause.
There are many heartbreaking stories due to the ongoing policy of repatriating North Korean escapees in China. We especially need your prayers to help rescue the sisters currently hiding there.
I pray that God's grace will be upon all the families supporting Caleb Mission and everything they undertake this year. As we pray, we trust that God is at work and that our ministers will plant seeds for life and the gospel. Thank you all for being a part of Caleb Mission. God bless you!

2025년 1월 첫째 주 소식
할렐루야. 평강의 하나님께서 함께 하시기를 기도합니다. 2025년 새해에 여러분들 가정과 사역, 건강 위에 하나님의 충만한 은혜의 기름 부으심이 있기를 기도합니다.
새해를 시작하면서 우리 탈북민들이 지금 탈출하고 있는데 하나님의 은혜로 탈출 과정에서 예수님을 만나기 원합니다. 그를 통해 우리가 기도하고 있는 북한 사역 복음의 리더로 세워질 수 있도록 기도 부탁드립니다. 생명을 살리는 데 많은 어려움도 있기에 여러분의 기도가 무엇보다도 필요한 때입니다.
저는 지난주에 우크라이나 병사의 총탄에 맞아 죽은 북한군에 대한 신문 기사를 봤습니다. 그 병사의 품에서 “어머니의 품을 떠나 러시아에서 생일을 맞이하는 동지”에 관한 편지가 발견되었는데 이 기사를 보고 매우 마음이 아팠습니다. 그 죽어가던 북한 병사도 누군가의 자식이고 형제이자 골육일 것입니다.
예수께서 이 땅에 오셔서 우리에게 생명을 주시고 복음을 주셨는데, 인간은 우상을 세우고 그렇게 죽어가는 모습들이 너무 안타깝습니다. 무엇보다도 저 북녘에 복음이 전해지고 하나님 한 분만 섬기고 이 땅에 평화가 오기를 바라고 있습니다.
제가 수많은 탈북민들을 구하며 들은 그들의 공통적인 기도 제목은 '보고 싶은 어머니'를 만나는 것입니다. 이런 내용이 담긴 편지도 많이 읽었습니다. 정치 문제로 부모, 형제가 헤어지는 일들이 없어야 하며, 이 것이 바로 복음으로 통일되야 하는 이유입니다.
2025년 한해 하나님 나라가 북한에 세워지고 복음이 전해지는 일이 있길 간절히 원합니다. 그리고 올해 하나님의 은혜와 사랑이 가득하시기를 바라며, 지금도 중국에 있는 우리 탈북민들의 구출을 위해서 기도해 주시는 한 해가 되시기를 부탁드립니다. 감사합니다.

Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace is with you. As we welcome the new year of 2025, I am grateful for God's guidance in sharing this first newsletter with you. I pray that God's abundant grace will be upon your family, ministry, and health in the coming year.
As we start this new year, efforts are underway to rescue North Korean escapees. May God's grace be upon them during their journey. We hope that as they seek freedom, they will encounter Jesus. We invite you to pray for leaders to be raised in the North Korean gospel ministry. There are many challenges in saving lives, so your prayers are needed now more than ever.
Last week, I read an article about a North Korean soldier killed by a Ukrainian soldier's bullet. A letter found with him mentioned “a comrade who left his mother’s arms and is celebrating his birthday in Russia.” It saddened me to think that this soldier was someone's child and brother.
Jesus came to bring us life and the gospel. It’s disheartening to see people worshiping idols and suffering. I desire the peace of the gospel, where it spreads in the North, and only God is glorified, fostering harmony in our land.
Many North Korean defectors share a common prayer: the desire to reunite with their mothers. Politics should not separate families; we find unity through the gospel, not greed.
In 2025, we aim to establish the kingdom of God in North Korea and spread the gospel. Please pray for our efforts and the rescue of North Korean escapees in China. Wishing you a year filled with God's grace and love. Thank you.
